Where would our world be without Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM)?
There would be no Internet or iPhone. Online purchasing or e-Learning wouldn’t exist. Developing vaccines for viruses such as Ebola or Zika would be nearly impossible. The face of our world, and our daily lives, would be considerably different today.
The Calgary Youth Science Fair (CYSF) inspires youth to discover their potential in these STEM fields, attracting bright hardworking students to grow their great ideas into initiatives they can take into the larger world.
The Calgary Youth Science Fair Society (CYSFS) is a non-profit society registered as having charitable status with the CRA and is run entirely by volunteers and supported solely by the many amazing individuals, companies and organizations in the Calgary community. Since its inception in 1962 the Calgary Youth Science Fair (CYSF) has relied on sponsors, donors, volunteers, and individuals passionate about youth science to support what is now the largest regional science fair in Canada.
Elsewhere on this website we have highlighted some of the key organizations and companies which have given significant financial and in-kind support to the Science Fair. In addition, on the Endowment Fund page we discuss the CYSFS’ aspiration to build the CYSF Endowment Fund, which is held at The Calgary Foundation, to One Million Dollars so that the interest from this fund can help us to maintain and grow the opportunity to continue to offer science fairs to students in Calgary.
The CYSFS also proudly recognizes the many volunteers who mentor Calgary students, volunteer at the CYSF, offer their time and professional services and, of course, the more than 550 individuals who serve as volunteer judges for the CYSF each April.
