This is intended for school coordinators who have already registered their school. Online school registration occurs between October 1 - 31.
Linked to this page, you will find all the documents and forms needed to enter the Calgary Youth Science Fair in April. Please print all the documents and read them thoroughly before you begin working with your students. As last year, the actual Student/Project Registration process will be completed online. That system will be activated in early December.
Are your students using animals, their tissue, or humans in their projects? Review the Guidelines for Use of Human Subjects and Animals and Policy 20, and if involving humans, file a Ethics and Due Care Form before you start your project. This form now requires you to determine the risk associated with your project when working with humans. Projects falling into the 'significant risk' category must complete Form 2B (Participation of Humans - Significant Risk Approval). They can proceed with their project once approval has been granted by the CYSF Ethics and Safety Committee. Students who use human subjects must have signed Informed Consent Forms for all study participants. For a complete list of when to use which form, please refer to the Coordinator Checklist.
Students will be asked to choose the Division and Topic(s) that best describe their projects. Please review DIVISION/TOPIC descriptions with your students before they fill out their Student/Project Registration Forms and complete their registration online.
We take this opportunity to wish you good luck with your science fair students over the next few months. We know both you and your students will find it a rewarding experience. If you require any assistance, e-mail us and we will find you the help that you need.
