Once your child has decided to do a science fair project: |
|
|
-
Take them to a Public Library to do research and collect information on the area of science they are exploring.
-
Review all of the information on our
Project Tips page for
advice and information on how to do a good science fair project.
-
Set aside time on a weekly basis to help your child with their project, remembering that all the work done must be their own. Make sure they keep a Log Book of their activities and/or experiments.
-
When you receive the Entry Rules and Safety Regulations from the School Coordinator, ensure that you child’s project is in compliance with them. Safety should be a primary concern.
-
If your child is going to use animals, animal tissue or human beings in any way, review the Guidelines for Use of Human Subjects and Animals and Policy 20 if using humans, and make sure
your student has filed an Ethics and Due Care Form (Form 2A) with the Ethics and Safety Committee Chairperson before they start their project.
-
If your child is going to use human subjects in their project they must have each human subject fill out the Informed Consent Form. These forms should become part of your child’s log book.
 |
When you receive the Student/Project Registration Form (February) |
|
|
-
Help your child fill out the Student/Project Registration Form.
-
Please review the new DIVISION/TOPIC
descriptions with your child before filling out the
Student/Project Registration form.
-
Check for correct spelling, etc.
-
Sign the Student/Project Registration Form knowing that you have read and understand all the Entry Rules and Safety Regulations.
-
Return the form to the Science Fair Coordinator at your child’s school.
